The latest version you can download from: Stud.IP Download Page
Stud.IP is an internet-based working environment developed to simplify communication, information and organization and to provide support in university and other educational surroundings. The system is also suitable for project management and advanced training in companies and public authorities. Stud.IP does not only provide various communication features, allowing it to work in nearly every didactical scenario, it also comes with numerous functionalities to assist in administrative tasks in universities, companies and educational institutions.
Stud.IP gives a quick and simple access to the world of e-learning. Every facility can provide schedules, folders for file uploads, discussion boards, participant lists, news tickers and lots more for all its courses. The aim of Stud.IP is not to replace events but to provide multimedia-based support for any kind of event. The developers of Stud.IP made an effort of creating an easy to use and intuitive system. Even inexperienced users can expect a quick feeling of success.
- Personal Information Page:
recent changes of content are marked in red
A second main focus was put an administrative tasks: Updating existing facility websites over the internet, management of resources like rooms and lend able equipment, printing of course summaries or participant lists through an XML interface or connecting Stud.IP to an existing LDAP-Server to use directory services. An integrated evaluation module allows a quick and cost-effective creation of evaluations.
- Supporting lecturers and students:
courses in Stud.IP provide a wide range of tools
Every user has a personal homepage which can be individually designed and updated. Teaching personnel for example can easily present their research projects or publications. Further personal services for example a private address book or a calendar synchronizable with MS Outlook are provided. Students have access to an automatically generated timetable and their record of study listing all their visited events and courses.
- PIM-Tools: calendar, address book, news
On one hand this smoothly increases the users media competence based on motivation by "ability". Current studies show that during the use of new media the own ability is a crucial factor. Therefore the system is built to be self-explanatory and can "learnt by doing". There is no need for further technical knowledge like installing browser plug-ins or using a special browser on the users side.
- Personal Homepage:
contact information and more
On the other hand the identification with the own university, the own course and field of studies and educational facility is increased. The studies and contacts to fellow students and lecturers now also take place between the usual meetings and events. So in this context 'identification' does not mean external management concepts like 'corporate identiy' but rather active participation in a 'social network of learning'. Therefore Stud.IP incorporates a lot of community elements that lead to the fact that people enjoy using the system - even besides the lectures.
- The same page, mirrored and integrated
as dynamic content into an existing www-page
By the way Stud.IP can be easily used together with ILIAS. The two systems are connected through a Stud.IP synchronization module. This module synchronizes the user account information and connect ILIAS learning modules to Stud.IP courses. This allows the creation and integration of learning modules of various popular standards like SCORM, LOM, AICC and QTI.
- Project management with the special
version for companies and public authorities
Interfaces are an important part of Stud.IP. Not only does it provide multiple export filters like HTML, RTF, PDF and XML, it also allows the import of data from the SOS and POS Modules of the academic information system HIS. The development of a connection module to HIS-LSF has already started and there are plans for a generic plug-in interface. Stud.IP already supports a direct connection to libraries providing instant access to library search functionalities. There are various add-ons available, for example for online test and surveys over a virtual exam system.
- Awareness modules:
raising motivation by community-features
Stud.IP is developed by the CoreGroup, the Stud.IP-community and the company data-quest located in Göttingen, Germany. The CoreGroup includes representatives of various universities. A high sustainability was achieved with this constellation. Therefore the further development of the system is guaranteed. Apart from that data-quest provides professional support including helpdesk, training courses and on-site service.
- Knowledge- and informationmanagement
Data-quest also provides a version of Stud.IP especially adapted for the use in companies and public service environments. This version not only provides extended groupware functionalities, it comes with a time registration feature and a project management- and controlling module. It can therefore replace a complete company network and makes effective "learning on the job" possible.
